In English, we had the opportunity to analyze aspects of romanticism in the book “Frankenstein” by Mary Shelley.
As emotions and thus emotional language are of utmost importance in romanticism, we decided to write a script that helped us to gather the necessary data to analyze different emotions throughout the text.
We were able to compile a list of words and match them to 7 different emotions. Our program checked how many times each list of words was used in each chapter. Finally, we were able to draw a graph that displayed to which extent each emotion was presumably present in each section.
